Dublin GAA Video Analysis enhanced with AP Capture IP Cameras

Since 2020, AnalysisPro have been delighted to support the Dublin GAA footballers with their video analysis processes. An effective video analysis process for GAA teams and any other sport is dependent on having high quality video to review, analyse and share. Our AP Capture IP Camera solutions (fixed and portable) use 4K PTZ cameras to provide very high quality video footage, and we’re really pleased to see ‘The Dubs’ continuing to benefit from using two of our portable AP Capture Sports Mast solutions in their analysis processes.

Dublin GAA are the current title holders of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, after a sixth successive win in 2020, where they beat Mayo to retain the Sam Maguire Cup (which they have won a total of 30 times now!). At AnalysisPro, we are proud to support and assist many GAA clubs and county teams in their performance analysis processes for football, hurling and camogie. The Nacsport video analysis software and KlipDraw telestration tools continue to grow in popularity with Gaelic teams and we are thrilled to be part of such a fantastic community of analysts and coaches across the GAA. In this post, Stephen Behan (Dublin GAA Performance Analyst) shares how the team are using the AP Capture Sports Masts to enhance their analysis workflows in training and preparing for their upcoming components. You will see how Dublin GAA combine two AP Capture Sports Masts to get high quality footage from two different angles when training, how the IP Cameras feed into their Hudl Sportscode analysis software and how the AP Capture live streaming plugin is opening more doors for the team’s sharing and review workflows.

Before I hand over to Stephen, all of us at AnalysisPro would of course like to say a big thanks to Stephen and the Dublin GAA team for their trust in our AP Capture Sports Mast solution for The Dubs’ performance analysis workflows!

The AP capture system has been a fantastic resource over the last year for Dublin GAA. We had a unique problem in that we wanted to be able to record high quality film from two cameras, but we also needed a portable solution. Jon, Josh and the rest of the team in AnalysisPro were fantastic throughout, talking us through the various options until we found a solution that was right for us.
We have two AP Capture Sports Masts working in tandem together, which allows us to control both IP cameras from one vantage point, as well as allowing us to capture two angles simultaneously in AP Capture V2. This was made possible thanks to the ingenuity of the AnalysisPro team (and our own home made waterproof case!), as they supplied a device and Cat6 cable reel to connect both of our AP Capture Sports Mast boxes together.
The masts are extremely sturdy and mobile, and are fully self-powered through long lasting batteries, which is fantastic for bringing them to alternate locations. Another key feature is that the Sports Mast boxes can also be powered directly through the mains for longer sessions or multiple games.
The camera quality is second to none, with the smooth and instantaneous joystick control allowing us to record excellent footage. The set up allows us to also capture directly into our Hudl Sportscode software, which greatly speeds up our analysis processes. We look forward to exploring the live streaming plugin feature over the summer with the potential to share games to a wider audience.
